MEET THE CHEF
When a passion for food and a zest for life meet
Hello! I’m Kim. I’m a classically trained chef who travels the world with an unstoppable gusto for life and all things food related! This passion for food came naturally to me. I've been experimenting in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. Prior to becoming a traveling chef, I was a chef based in Los Angeles, California.
My culinary career began when I got my degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. After working in a few restaurants, I soon moved on to become the personal chef for several Hollywood celebrities. Some of which who have created, written or starred in shows such as Captain America, The Avengers, Inside Amy Schumer, The Hangover, The Matrix, V for Vendetta, Dice, Law & Order, Saturday Night Live, Grace & Frankie, Bones, and many more. As a personal chef, I realized that I had a knack for recipe development, menu planning, cost control, working around dietary restrictions and almost any obstacle that was thrown at me. I also realized that I'm really good at working with people when it comes to crafting flavor profiles and menus that work to achieve a client’s ideal goal and soon found myself consulting as well.
Aside from my degree from Le Cordon Bleu, I've studied numerous types of cuisines in countries all over the world. Over 2 years ago I gave up my home and have since been traveling around the world having spent time in Africa, India, Japan, France, Spain, Italy, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, UK, Germany and the list goes on covering most of Asia and Europe. No matter where I travel abroad or in the United States, diving into local culture gives me insight and fuels my love for creating the best food possible.
I also have expertise in the plant based diet as well as gluten free cooking and recipe development. I've spent years catering to different client needs working around everything from dietary choices to allergies and health conditions. Along with my culinary training, I have furthered my education by attending seminars and classes to learn more about holistic eating, health and nutrition. I believe that food can be both delicious and healing.
As a chef in Los Angeles, I owned two businesses. One business that catered to each individual client's needs in terms of likes, dislikes, allergies, dietary restrictions and goals. I focused on making each dish customized to both their liking and needs. Those clients were a mix of carnivores, vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans and more. I also had a second business that was a plant based meal delivery service that catered to vegans and anyone wanting to eat more plant based.
In my work I strive to use as many organic, non GMO, local and sustainable products as much as possible. I’m a big advocate of no waste in the kitchen. Food is full circle and that is how I try to live my life as well leaving as little impact as possible on the earth.
Leaving my comfy job to start gallivanting around the world learning more about food, people and culture has changed my life. Being a chef has allowed me to lead an amazing life doing something that I love. I never feel like I'm working. I'm constantly learning new things and implementing those things. I believe that the key to being a successful chef is to stay humble and be open to learn from anyone that has something to teach you. The possibilities are endless with food. It's the best job I ever signed up for.
